Domaine Georges Vernay

  • Vallée du Rhône

Domain

Located on the Côte-Rôtie, the Domaine Vernay benefits from an international awareness thanks to its history and to the talent in the vineyard and the vat. Francis Vernay planted the first hectare of viognier in 1938, a grape variety with delicate aromas of flowers, pear and apricot. At that time, the estate contains various cultures particularly fruits trees. Georges Vernay moved then on the Domain in 1943 as he was convinced that grape and wines are the future of the region. He followed his father way by purchasing new plots and replacing fruit trees by vine plants. The domain starting with 1 ha of vine in 1943 is 22 ha today. Georges Vernay is today the spiritual father of the Condrieu appellation by giving back its life. Three generations have been at the head of the Domaine Vernay and have built this legend by perpetuating the spectacular rites in the highest respect of the vine ad the terroir. Today it is the daughter of Georges, Christine, who is at the head of the Domain with his husband. She manages alone the wine making process since 1997 and brings a lot of attention for the quality of the terroir and the wines. The Vernay signature: wines with a unique style, harmonious and elegant.
