Pioneer of Saint-Emilion, the Despagne family has crossed the years and managed to impact the vineyard history. Owner for 2 centuries, it shares the same values for seven generations: love for vineyard and respect for traditions. In 2012, the family celebrated its 200 years of presence on Grand Corbin terroir. Located in the North of Saint-Emilion, next to Pomerol, Château Grand Corbin Despagne benefits from to major types of soil: clay and sand with ferruginous sandstone and old clay sands. François Despagne decided to realize a geological study to understand the terroir secrets. 53 plots have been then identified, enabling a perfect plot management depending on the grape variety, of rootstock, the vine age and the terroir. Wines reveal complex notes of red fruits and floral notes evolving during ageing to more spice and truffle notes. The violet and cherry are also present with a mouth finale full of fineness and smooth.
