The story of the chateau started with the purchase of a small house next to the Gironde river by Arnaud Ducasse in the middle of the 17th century. He had never imagined that this small house would eventually be developed into a well-known wine estate that would be passed on in his family for almost three centuries. Pierre Ducasse, a family member of the next generations, was considered to be the real founder of the estate. He had expanded the vineyard by buying neighbors’ lands across three Lord’s domains: Lafite, Latour and Beychevelle. Throughout the centuries, the estate continued its development and underwent several renovations. In 2004, CA Grands Crus, a subsidiary of the Groupe Crédit Agricole, acquired the château and an improvement plan was mapped out for the entire estate. It is now supervised by Anne Le Naour, the Technical Director, and the consultant oenologist, Hubert de Bouärd.
