Domain

The history of the Labruyère family begins in the 1850s when the founder of the Mâcon branch of Labruyère, Jean-Marie, settled in Les Thorins, in the heart of what would become the Cru Moulin-à-Vent in 1924. Since the family has acquired several properties: Domaine Jacques Prieur in Meursault, Château Rouget in Pomerol. In 2012 Edouard Labruyère decided to complete this pretty mosaic of family terroirs by setting up in Champagne in Verzenay, classified as a Grand Cru and cradle of the greatest Pinot Noirs in the region. In homage to his ancestor who preceded him 6 generations ago, Edouard wished to pay homage to him by baptizing this new domain "J.M Labruyère". The family did not choose Verzenay by chance. An unofficial classification of 1873 places this village in the Montagne de Reims among the 3 best vintages of Champagne. A saying goes, moreover: 'Verzenay: there is only one!'
