Château Pichon Baron

  • Bordeaux

Domain

The Pichon Baron estate, located to the south of the commune of Pauillac, tells us an unusual story. Indeed, in 1850, the Pichon Longueville estate was split between the four children. The first part came to the son Raoul, who dubbed it Château Pichon Baron. The second part came to the three sisters, also Countesses, and led to the creation of the Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande estate. The following year, the Baron Raoul had a magnificent residence built, which is still there today. A few years later, the estate became a Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, raising it up alongside the greatest wines of Bordeaux. Since 1987, the Château Pichon Baron has been the property of AXA Millésimes. Their priority is to enable wine lovers all over the world to access this great wine. In order to produce a wine of increasing quality year after year, from as early as 1988, AXA Millésimes began an extensive renovation programme on the fermenting vat, cellars and Château. Since 2008, hiding under the glassy water, the cellar is buried. Only the very best of the vineyard is selected during the assemblage, evidence of the attention to detail with this Grand Cru. It is with pride, hard work and passion that the entire team at the Château works with the aim of making excellent wines. Château Pichon Baron is a pleasant combination of power and finesse with elegance and exceptional length. Its tannic structure expresses all the typical characteristics of the great wines of Pauillac.
