Investments : the delights and pitfalls of investing in fine wines
- Wed, Jun 14, 2023 at 16:15
A case in point is the set of 12 bottles of Château Rayas 1978 auctioned for €62,500 at the Hôtel du Ritz in Paris last April. The event was considered the "sale of the century", generating €7 million for the sale of 30,000 bottles : a record figure for a public auction!
However, the success of this type of investment depends not only on the purchase price, but also on the quality of the wine, its meticulous conservation and the length of time it is held. As an investor, it's vital to handle wine with care and discernment. Today, it has become common for individuals to acquire wines for their own personal enjoyment, while considering the possibility of making substantial profits by reselling them at a later date. There's also nothing to stop you diversifying your sources of supply to build up a unique and diverse collection. This is precisely what U'wine offers with its "Cave Invest" product : a turnkey solution registered with the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF). To find out more, read the interview with Les Echos.
