Château Lafon-Rochet

The Château Lafon-Rochet is located in Saint-Estèphe and has some of the most prestigious wine-growing neighbours in the world. Indeed, it is located between the vineyards of Château Cos d’Estournel and the Château Lafite Rothschild. The Lafon family has maintained the estate for more than two centuries. It led the estate up to its consecration in 1855, when the Château was classed Quatrième Grand Cru du Médoc. Guy Tesseron, seduced by this unique terroir, bought the estate in 1961 and undertook numerous renovations. The vine was replanted and the residence rebuilt in the form of a 17th century charterhouse, the only one of this style in Bordeaux. Another original feature: he decided to paint the building yellow, the colour that is found on the labels of the bottles. For three generations, the Tesseron family has worked with care and passion on this 45-hectare vineyard.
