Domain

Long called Château La Salle, Château Kirwan changed name upon the arrival of Mark Kirwan in 1775. This Troisième Cru Classé in 1855 has passed between the hands of different owners, including Daniel and Georges Guestier, also owners of Beychevelle. The Château was bequeathed to the son-in-law of Daniel Guestier, Alfred Schÿler, and then bought by the family trading company. It experienced a renaissance in the 1950s, particularly thanks to Jean-Henri Schÿler who restructured the vineyard and set up bottling at the Château. Today, Philippe Delfaut provides general and technical management with the advice of Eric Boissenot, the reputed oenologist. The proportion of Merlot and Cabernet Franc (30% and 15% respectively) is unique to the Château Kirwan blend. On tasting you discover the characteristics of the great Margaux wines, combining elegance, suppleness and roundness. This estate replete with history produces a superb long-keeping wine every year. You must wait at least 5 to 10 years to enjoy all of its qualities.
