After studying winemaking Olivier Merlin owner of the estate moved to Napa California for 2 years to create 2 vintages. When he cames back in 1987 he purchased the domaine du Vieux-Sorlin with his wife Corinne in Mâconnais. They purchased in 2005 Domaine Arcelin in La Roche-Vineuse just below the mâconnaises rocks. 1 year later 2 hectares in Moulin à Vents are purchases by the couple. Their 2 sons joined them to run the wine estate end of 2017. The family philosophy: soil work, manual harvests. For the wine-making process they choose long pressing with whole grapes, fermentation and wine maturing fully in barrels. Balance, purity, depth and harmony: four words to describe wines from Domaine Olivier Merlin.
