Domain

Valentin Leflaive began its journey of initiation in 2015. It involved a new kind of freedom, leaving Puligny-Montrachet and the wine house’s historical base for Avize on the prestigious Côte des Blancs. In 2020, Valentin Leflaive obtains his approval (Negociant manipulant) and settles in his brand new winery in Oger… Making champagne is not a matter of improvisation. And when you come from the Leflaive family and you have been striving for excellence for several generations, champagne can only be one thing – an exceptional sparkling wine. Present for generations among the most prestigious appellations on the Côte d’Or, the Leflaive family is renowned for its exemplary work. This skill in terms of excellence has been applied to plot selection in the Champagne region. Based on single-varietal approach can result in some wonderful interpretations, similar to the grand cru wines of the Côte de Beaune. Valentin Leflaive Champagne owes its balance and precision to the wine house’s uncompromising approach. The selection of plots through the harvesting by hand to tailored vinification. Besides a benevolent eye, one has to have patience. One can only attain perfection by allowing time to take its course. The experience gained with grand cru wine can be detected in both the method and the character. A proportion of the wines are aged in old Burgundy barrels which have previously been used to age the Puligny-Montrachet and Montrachet wines of the Maison Olivier Leflaive and which now help to bring out the complexity of these champagne cuvées.
