Jonata is a young wine estate established in Santa Ynez on the Californian central coast. The name Jonata comes from to the Spanish concession of 1845 named Rancho San Carlos of Jonata. Meaning “tall oak”, the name Jonata was borrowed by the first pioneers from the local Chumash Indian. Cultivating grapes varieties like syrah, cabernet franc and sangiovese, Jonata differs by the finesse of its wines. To provide a natural environment to the vineyard, the estate has banned the use of pesticide and integrates farm animals and orchard. Jonata is part of the new American wave and is now among the most prestigious wine estate of the United States like the Hilt and Screaming Eagle.
