Château Beychevelle

  • Bordeaux

Domain

The Château Beychevelle is a Quatrième Grand Cru Classé in 1855, replete with history. It is one of the most beautiful châteaux of the Médoc which, in particular, has hosted Jean-Louis Nogaret de La Valette, Great Admiral of France. The name Beychevelle, which comes from the French term "Baisse Voile" (low sail), is also linked to this man, who asked the ships passing in front of his Château to lower their sails in tribute. The large 250-hectare estate, including 90 hectares of thirty-year-old vines, is considered as "the Versailles of the Médoc". The elegance of its architecture is reflected in its racy and harmonious wine, constructed on a blend dominated by Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot. Today, Aymar de Baillenx and Philippe Blanc place a respect for the environment at the core of their concerns. A new cellar has just been inaugurated in June 2017 in order to accommodate vinification, using the very latest tools (parcel selection, gravity filling).
