The Selection Committee
Our U’Wine Selection committee is composed of two devoted wine lovers and respected professionals with contacts in the world’s most sought-after wine estates: Aymeric de Clouet is a wine expert to the Paris Court of Appeal, and a fond lover of old vintages Bordeaux wines; Quentin Chaperon is our full-time director of sourcing and Châteaux relationships, tirelessly travelling the world to uncover hidden wine gems. Their mission is to secure allocations from the most coveted wine estates and uncover Rising Stars to continue expanding our 1% U’Wine selection.

Where it all started…
« …From my early experience as an entrepreneur, I learned that I had to follow my instincts and stay true to my values. Surrounding myself with great people, be they family, friends, employees, shareholders and Customers is the key to my success. Antoine, our CFO, is my rock at U’Wine; Florence, my wife, represents my life balance. Our ambition transcends borders and the anglicised U’Wine name is testimony to this. Our story has only just begun…See more
« A terroir is the combination of a unique soil and climate, carefully nurtured by the Wine maker.
Without terroir, there are no « Grands Vins ». Choosing 1% of the top terroirs means possessing the finest wines in the world in your wine cellar. »

Château Picque Caillou
Category: U'Wine Rising Star
History: The Château Picque Caillou is located at the entrance of the city of Bordeaux. It was built in 1755 by the famous architect Jean Laclotte. It is one of the last historical buildings facing the urbanisation of the city. Right in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, it neighbours the prestigious Château Haut-Brion and Château Pape Clément. In 2006, under the initiative of Paulin Calvet, a Bordeaux trader, the history of the Château took another twist. He surrounded himself with the best oenologists and developed the vinification methods to put the emphasis on the aromas, elegance and purity of the wines.
The property enjoys an exceptional terroir with a Günzian gravel soil and a subsoil composed of fine filtering gravel. It gives the wines great finesse and superb long-keeping potential. Moreover, the name of the Château refers to its stony soil, emblematic of Graves terroirs. The vineyard is spread over 21 hectares of vines, including 20 hectares of red grape varieties, dedicated to the First wine, and 1 hectare of white varieties. This still little-known Château produces a silky wine with flavours of black fruit, while being lively and pronounced in the mouth.
